Young Broar could barely believe it, not only was he still alive but he had found a fat purse of monies on the body of a dead Lunar Thane and now his own purse was 250 lunars richer, what a great stroke of fortune!

Not quite so fortunate, however, was the fact his efforts upon the field of glory had gone otherwise unrewarded, no promotion and no mention in the Epistles. Damn, it was grossly unfair as anyone could have seen how heroic he had been but such is the lot of a destitute cottar's son, these high and mighty folk who come from privileged backgrounds getting all the glory and rewards while the poor common types get ignored...hrrrmmpph!!

Anyway, enough of this risky nonsense at the Front it was time for an up and coming fellow to return to the somewhat safer environment of Boldhome, there were Cults to join, a proper regiment to enlist in, women to woo and important jobs to secure.

Somewhere, in the back of his mind, he recalled memory of a cult for intelligent types, of which clearly he was one (!), and surely this must be the one for him. Lankhor Mhy....was that it...and something about you had to have a beard to get in? Trouble was the bumfluff upon his own chin hardly constituted such and so he'd better go a buy a fake one....wasn't that a stall over there in the Market, the one with all those women gathered around it and the seller shouting out something about haggling......
