Young Torben say forlornly at his table, large piles of lunars were heaped across the top of it alongside an empty bottle of strong ale.
"Sigh..... what's the point of all this money I've amassed if the man that I've looked up to, ever since arriving in the City, my former employer, my fellow Orlanthi, my Sartarite comrade-in-arms, the great Lord Erik, has poo-pooed me already in favour of that Harold fellow.
I mean, I got my application in first, I did well during the recent Summer Campaign, I always kept his barn and stables in good order etc etc, all I was asking for was the chance to become a God Talker, some recognition to prove my worth in life, that, maybe, just maybe, I could finally amount to something other than a latrine pit digger and filler.....sigh.....I guess it's not to be as there was no answer, no acknowledgement to my application yet that Harold receives both, flowery words extolling his praise and suitability for the post.
Well, perhaps I shouldn't have such expectations of rising in society, my past is to be my future, just spend my money on a few new spades, buckets and high boots.......sigh.......wail.....oh Lord Erik, how couldst thou forsake me so swiftly......where did I put that other bottle of ale.....sob.....sniff....

Ivarenna pens a letter to Torben to the effect that she is happy to appoint him as god-talker.
