However, I've just glanced at the rules and noted that applying to join a regiment is a weekly action. If we're off to the front in week 1 that suggests that it's now too late to change regiment unless Rufus pre-confirming the appointment makes the process quicker?

Leaving a regiment as it’s about to leave for the front is frowned upon, and might be cause for court martial.
